Welcome to Calorique ("Calorique", "we", "our", "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of calorique.io and the calculators, articles, and nutrition/fitness resources offered on the Site. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Calorique. We may update them from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Site following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If the changes are material, we will highlight them on this page for at least 30 days.

2. Description of Service

Calorique provides free, web-based calculators and educational resources covering calorie needs (BMR/TDEE), macronutrient planning, body composition (BMI, body fat, lean mass), activity energy expenditure, hydration, meal planning, weight change projections, and related nutrition and fitness topics. Tools are grounded in peer-reviewed equations (Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict, Katch-McArdle, and similar), CDC and NIH reference data, and USDA/WHO dietary guidelines. The Site is an informational resource and is not a medical, clinical, or therapeutic service.

3. NOT MEDICAL ADVICE — Important Disclaimer

CALORIQUE IS NOT A MEDICAL SERVICE. CALORIQUE IS NOT A DOCTOR, DIETITIAN, NUTRITIONIST, PERSONAL TRAINER, OR LICENSED HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL. NOTHING ON THIS SITE CONSTITUTES MEDICAL, CLINICAL, NUTRITIONAL, DIETETIC, OR HEALTH ADVICE, DIAGNOSIS, OR TREATMENT.

All content — including calculator results, articles, guides, and statistics — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. Health, nutrition, and fitness decisions are highly dependent on individual circumstances, including but not limited to medical history, current medications, pregnancy, lactation, metabolic conditions, eating disorders, and chronic illnesses.

4. Calculator Accuracy and Limitations

Calorique uses established, peer-reviewed formulas from nutrition and exercise science literature. However, calculator results are estimates, not measurements. Individual results may differ from calculator outputs by meaningful margins because of factors the formulas cannot capture:

  • Genetic variation in metabolic rate, thermogenesis, and nutrient absorption
  • Medical conditions (thyroid disorders, diabetes, Cushing's, PCOS, cardiovascular disease, etc.)
  • Medications that affect metabolism, appetite, or fluid balance
  • Body composition that differs from statistical averages (athletes, elderly, very lean, very obese)
  • Measurement technique variation (especially body fat percentage)
  • Lifestyle factors: sleep, stress, non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT)

You are responsible for using calculator results appropriately within your own context. Calorique makes no warranty that results are complete, accurate, or applicable to your specific situation.

5. Eating Disorder Notice

Calorie counting, body-composition measurement, and weight-tracking can be harmful for individuals with or recovering from eating disorders. If you are struggling with food, body image, or disordered eating, please stop using these tools and contact a qualified healthcare provider. In the United States, the National Eating Disorders Association helpline is 1-800-931-2237 (NEDA).

6. Permitted Use

You may use Calorique only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the Site in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation.
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the Site, its servers, or its infrastructure.
  • Scrape, mirror, or systematically copy content from the Site without written permission.
  • Use automated scripts to generate load or circumvent rate limiting.
  • Reverse-engineer calculator logic or re-publish it as your own service.
  • Use the Site to transmit malware, spam, or any harmful content.
  • Represent calculator results as clinical diagnoses or treatment recommendations.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on Calorique — including text, calculators, logos, page layouts, article series, methodology explanations, data compilations, and design elements — is the property of Calorique or its content contributors and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may view, print, and share individual pages for personal, non-commercial use, and you may link to the Site from your own website or social media. You may not reproduce, redistribute, republish, sublicense, or create derivative works from Calorique content without our prior written consent.

8. Third-Party Content and Advertising

The Site contains advertising served by third parties (including Google AdSense and other ad networks), as well as references and links to third-party websites such as CDC.gov, NIH, USDA, WHO, and related publications. Calorique does not control and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party sites or advertisers. Inclusion of an advertisement or link is not an endorsement.

9. Disclaimers

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE FROM VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CALORIQUE AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR RELIANCE ON ITS CONTENT, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO HEALTH CONSEQUENCES, NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCIES, WEIGHT CHANGES, OR MEDICAL OUTCOMES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SITE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100).

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Calorique, its operators, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any right of another party.

12. Privacy

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

13. Termination

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including disclaimers, indemnities, and limitations of liability — will survive.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Calorique is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that jurisdiction, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of those courts.

15. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other policies posted on the Site, constitute the entire agreement between you and Calorique regarding the Site and supersede all prior agreements.
